All,
Please understand few basic facts.
Much of the work that we do is not on the website but behind the scene.
We need resources to carry the message to the lawmakers.
Resources are contributed by the members.
All members do not contribute, and then there are those who contribute.
We have created a specific area on the website where more serious members who are willing to open their wallets, could actively participate, and that will enable us to enlist more active members for the work that we do behind the scene.
Its just one way for us to recruit serious members to help us with more active work and at the same time help to continue with the organizational goals.
From time to time, we will also seek advice from the contributing members. And when we need more help, we will reach out to everybody on the website.
Rest of the area on the forum will continue to be the way that it is right now and every member will continue to access it the way you access it right now.
We are soon going to introduce new and more helpful features for everyone.
Which part of this is not fair? Why can't we all get along? Why do we have to argue and fight over everything?

Preparing for future is one thing but if you think that this is a valuable thread then go with it and enjoy, i just find it disheartening that people are trying to undermine whatever has been achieved by such threads (Like i said, he might be completely right but is there a need to tell it this way) and what are you going to prepare for the future ;) Do you know it ? (If you do, please keep it to yourself and enjoy or cry about it). Right now, i want to be positive and enjoy the fruits of what IV has done to get some relief, why use negative logic to undermine it and that is what i am saying. With all due respect to the selfless hard work of IV core, I concur with ItIsNotFunny. There are many members who feel this way. IV core should be more open to members. I feel a cloud of secrecy always surrounding IV. Of course they cannot be public about all their activities, but more needs to be done on this front. You will see more members actively participating if core is more open.
I totally agree to this. Everytime i try to bring this point across all that is being asked is go contribue some money. I have contributed money before and i will contribute lot more if i know what it is getting used for.
There are several of my friends who are not actively looking at IV site. I am sure they will contribute money if they know the initiative IV is currently working on.

You both are right. It is definitely not about quitting or winning, it is making the best decision in cognizance to your career and life goals. For some it might be fighting the EB cause, for some it might just be moving to Cananda or India. Either way, life is as such is supposed to be a rolling stone, most of the mass we carry is just a burden that comes in our way of experiencing true happiness and joy.

Quit here go to Canada and then face some problems there and then quit canada. And then you will become the rolling stone which gathers no mass. Your family will be sick of your shifting then and no stabilization will cause more issues.
A friend of mine told me this one evening when I was really frustrated and was planning to quit my dream on being an entrepreneur and here I am now, and I think where I am right now is for the reason that I didn't quit that day and finally my product was liked by a company and they bought the product and offered me a job as well and then one thing lead to another and now I am settled with what I always wanted to do ( kinda not 100%) but its ok.

If you pass substantial presence test and treated as resident for tax purposes, you get the check from IRS. Mots of us file 1040A for taxes. Only few of us do not qualify as residents for tax purposes file 1040NR, those don't get.
If your spouse doesn't work and have a child, then you may qualify as head of household and sometimes get bigger check.
Only few desi's will not qualify for this check but whoever stays here for more than couple of years and filed taxes in 2006, don't worry.

I emailed them not as me but as my employer( point of contact mentioned in the labor petition) and it works they send me a copy of the labor approval to my house along with a copy to my employer and one to my attroney. It really works.

i just returned from an infopass meeting... the guy i talked to said that they recently have a directive from the DHS/USCIS that they want to separate the legal stuff from the illegal stuff and hence they are planning to adjudicate a record number of EB apps in the next quarter or two... does anyone else concur? is this true or were my ears just ringing in that meeting?

A Lot goes on in the last 2-qtrs, especially in last qtr(july-sept). I won't be surprised if he is right. There are many loop-holes they may want to plug before CIR or any immigration reform takes shape.

I do not buy this argument because how come NSC is approving peoples I-140 filed concurrently in July-Aug 2007 or even non-concurrently filed as late as Oct 2007? How come Eb2 is moving so fast in NSC ?

No wonder there is such a backlog of EB3 I-140s !

I consider FOIA is a multifold success. Not only we achieved milestone 1 of $5K, we were successful enough to wake up members to do something after long time. Why do you think the very same members were sleeping? I don't believe IV Core was not doing anything in last few months but members always felt that there is no plan of action from IV. There is nothing worst could happen to us just by disclosing our plan of actions in controlled way like:
1. <<ABC>> is preparing document for final data information.
2. <<XYZ>> is evaluating other options how we could retrieve this information.
3. <<DEF>> is understanding how FOIA works and how long it will take us to get data and what will be the best option to get it earlier.
4. <<MMM>> is working on funding drive for this.
There is no reason to hide even this kind of information. But if we do this, members understand what we are doing at high level.
My 2 cents.

Also, information like how much IV is spending on lobbying on a monthly basis ? As this information is publicly available (in fact Sanju could find it by searching for under 10 mins and can be googled),why can't it be displayed on the website ?

Also now we with rsamudrala ,satishbsk and SDdesi having joined the SOCal chapter we are 39 member strong team!!!
Hoping that we will get 1 more person with us for meetings we will atleast have about 70 members in a meeting.
Make it a regular event so that postings / thoughts can culminate into actions.
