Based on my research on net and discussion with economic savy friends and my own limited knowledge in economics, by any calculation, real-estate in India is going to be in deep trouble. It will be a uncalculated gamble to invest in realty at current prices in India just because the commitment is large and long term with 0 visibility
Even in NRI perspective, set aside the low GDP of india and assume that it will grow beyond wildest dreams in next 20 years (atleast I hope they will control the inflation), the prices are still beyond the Purchasing Power Parity between nations for example US and India. US PPP is around $41500 and stand at 8th position among world countries. Now all 7 countries above US are so called non attractive for NRI's. Where does india stand? 140th position with a Purchasing Power Parity of $3300. Only poor south african, south asian countries are below India in the list.

Assume that at some point in future you will need to realize the investment say 5 years from now or even 10 years. Who will buy it from you? only 2% of indian families potentially can earn $200,000 in life time. Given this, I think you can only hope that another NRI would earn and save enough at that time to buy from you paying more that what you have invested + (alternate investment value).
There are estimated 182000 including the ones waiting for approvals real estate flats and complexes are being built all across india's major cities expanding into suburbs. As someone said, NRI's invest in majority of the projects even before 10% of development is completed. These projects will be completed in next 5 to 7 years. Beyond that new projects that may come up in future which will potentially increase the supply combined with poor purchasing power of local folks and corruption is a real recipe for disaster.
I am sure majority of NRI's did not tak a deep look at economic and political scenarios before making decision on buying realty in India. I was shocked to hear one builder with such convincing tone, saying buy it now or you will loose the chance. After a week, he increased the price by 2% and told us that there is a huge demand and he already sold 20 units in 5 days since we talked to him. Hard to believe. I later heard that he is still selling units to NRI's :) and tells them same story.
That triggered me to do some research and study the situation in that country and when I try to connect the dots.. jeez its scary. It seems they do not consider capacity of drainage, sewer and waste disposal in the area to support increased usage in their project building these flats which will house 100's of new families. Public water supply pipes are also not expanded around the development area to cater increased demand and consumption. Builders just connect water pipes to the nearest public water supply point. God knows when, that public water supply pipes were layed and to support how much consumption? Water preasure in these buildings are 0 and you just see drops :) Solution to this, Builder says its a common norm that all occupants will buy the water and share the cost.
I am not throwing the my small savings to gamble in India. If you get a good deal, go for it or just wait for a correction. Now the question is what is a good deal in given circumstances? If the rotation slow down, investment locks up, poor local PPP with make credit expensive and preasure will build on borrowers to liquidate property which will lead to fall in prices. We can even expect a credit crisis in India in next couple of years.
Do not even compare effect of credit crisis in US to if at all it is going to happen in India. US is still the strongest economy and India is not. (I am not talking about growth rate here but the depth)

Anyone having experience renewing DL in Ohio after filing for I-485? Do they issue DL for 4 yrs? Or do we need to apply for EAD (if H1B is expiring and company is not willing to apply for H1 extension) and DL will be issued till the expiry of EAD?

At least I won't give u red dots if you can enlighten us how to get us out of this mess. And yes, we do want our green card so I don't think we can stop the process or stop spending money on that. Also please advise us how to bring all 70K people under one umbrella?

Enough of this Gandhiian ways. This country is not good for people like Gandhi. May be Flower campaign got noticed and created a whole new experience for the USCIS, but i dont think it really helped them do anything in our favor. Already, folks here are wasting their money, year after year, on their EADs and APs for them and their family. Just think for a second guys, It costs us 1000 $ to maintain status on AOS and visit our family and this is going on indefinitely for our years now. USCIS/Congress does not want to do anything about this, They are happy to get the revenue. Even if you think a minimum of 200,000 people spending 1000 $ an year, it is 200,000,000 $. Iam not even considering the amount they spent on other things like H1B extension, H4s..... Just think about the Dollars they are making on this Green Card SCAM. Accept it or not, it is indirectly affecting our lives, even though, GC is not really important for lot of folks. Iam one such person, I have a good client and a decent employer and iam with the same folks for 9 years and they are happy extending my H1b at their cost. But still, this whole GC game, is sometimes disturbing. They are playing with our emotions and our loved ones. So, GUYS we need to take a bigger and bolder step. To me, Calling people, sending flowers and letters explaining the situation makes no sense. Do you think, those guys dont really know about our situation. Let us a make a bold move. We are 70,000 folks just here in ImmigrationVoice. Let us compile a letter,that pushes USCIS/Congress on improving the condition. As long as they get those EXTRA Dollars, i dont think anything is going to happen. Even if they remove the provision to apply for GC while on H1B, it is good for us, for we will know that in advance and can plan on shaping our future better, instead of this false promise and emotional torture. I think even AILA or other Lawyers are useless. They dont want to do anything for us. All they do is, interpret the LAW , and explain us in the way we can understand. They dont take steps to fight for the justice. All they care is the money. So let us make our point clear to USCIS, we dont want to waste money on EADs and APs and H1B extensions. To me, it should be free of cost, since it is their problem that they dont work efficiently. Why should we pay 1000s of dollars for their inefficiency. let us all 70,000 work together in sending a letter to USCIS or Congress that We are not willing to spend any more money on the GC knowing that we are not going to get it anyway. Man, in frustration people do not even know what to say and what not! Be very careful of what you spin and what you say. From the looks of it, this stuff has every chance of spinning out of control and it may have already started the ball rolling.Think about it for a second!. Remember, those 25000 are one of us. Once,they too were in line for Labor certifications, I-140s, medical exams and all that crap. And some of them were in the so called "FBI Name check" black-hole for an extended period of time. We should be rejoicing in the fact that most of those backlogs got cleaned up. Instead we have people questioning the validity of those newly approved GCs.My dear friends, god willing, we will all have GCs one day and tell me, how would you feel if someone else comes screaming at you just because he did not get one too.
Putting a "security lapse" spin on this could be very dangerous and should be avoided at any cost. I hope one of those anti-immigrant lobbies do not pick it up and start running with that. I prey that they do not revoke those already approved GCs, because if they do, then those poor 25000 souls will go through much more agony than what we are going through now.
It's very tough to get the genie back in the bottle once it is out, so think before you start popping that cork.

from US Congresswoman's office, an immigration specialist spoke to their liaison at the Nebraska Service Center.
Liaison confirmed the following:
1. I-140 approval in September, 2007 (actually 09/04/2007 as I have the hard copy)
2. I-140 revocation in Feb, 2009 ( he has not provided the day of the month, but from LUD I have it strongly pointing to 02/03/2009)
I have not told the Congresswoman's office about the I-140 revocation. Just mentioned that it might have happened as I have left the company.
3. Liaison did confirm that even after the I-140 being withdrawn I am eligible for adjustment thru AC21.
4. Liaison did agree that if the I-140 was revoked within the stipulated time given in AC21, Nebraska�s decision to deny the I-485 may have been in error. (which in my case is true)
Immigration specialist at the Congresswoman's office is going to contact the Director of NSC to review this matter with a supervisor
Unanswered questions:
1. If the Liaison can see that my I-140 is approved on 09/04/2007, why is that the adjudicating officer is responding with a denial on 09/04/2007 and subsequent denial of I-485?

Conclusion:
Atleast in my case it looks deliberate and intentional.

USCIS has edited the reciept update of NEBRASKA EMPLOYMENT BASED I-485 TO 7/1/07.please go thru this link.This means it is still looking after the june end applications for reciepts.
